Hi everyone,
Just sharing some photos from the preview of dipped.two. For those of you who don’t know, I have a small jewelry line called dipped which is a collaboration between my friend and own of design label thirtyfour. You can read about it here (dipped). You can also check the various updates I’ve done in relation to dipped by clicking on my tab bar on the side or here.
We had a preview last Thursday, 23rd of June 2011 and all I can say is BLESSED! So many friends of ours to preview the collection. It was quite a special moment for us.
dipped.two is a small line (18 in total) of one-off pieces that featured fancy cut stones set in silver and dipped in 18k gold (rose and yellow gold). It took us about four months or so to develop and produce the line in between our day jobs. We had no set rules for this designing dipped, it was all about what we wanted to do and what we wanted to “play” with. Surprisingly, many of our friends related to our designs and we even had some customers from dipped one returning to view. We were pleased to see a young crowd at the event too which was what we hope to achive - making fine jewelry slightly more accessible to the young ladies who aspire to own something special. Like I said, I feel Blessed.
Here are some picture of the event posted on the thirtyfour facebook page.
Below are some blackberry behind the scenes pics I took as we went through the dipped.two journey right up to event day.

(ABOVE) Half way mark to preview date: Discussion day with our goldsmith on settings and chains. Above is Shuenn Kee’s ‘Grace’. Measurements and placing.

(ABOVE) A week before the event our pieces came back to us : We were quite into ombre-ing everything. LOL. The gradient is so pretty and totally something that we thought our customers would appreciate.

Above: ‘Delight’ and ‘Trust’

I loved my ‘eternal’ with her dancing stones. I wore all of them before I parted with them. LOL

(ABOVE): Shuenn Kee looks so cute with her mini mouse gloves placing ‘eternal’ on the mirror for her photo session.

This never made it to the booklet as the shot wasn’t really working for us. (That’s my hand in the mirror :))

test shot for eternal.

That’s Jeff, our visualist, swirling around the necklace before shooting.

She made it to the wall. :)

I was invited to be a part of a great “creative collaboration” type project. The Gardens Mall and Wei-Ling Contemporary and Shiseido collaborated and will be hosting an exhibition (the first of its kind in Malaysia) called The Garden of Hidden Desires. The idea was to invite 8 established Malaysian fashion designers to collaborate with 8 Malaysian artists. My role was to model one of the creations. My combination was with Dato Tom Abang Saufi and Justin Lim, both people I know and respect greatly as artists.
The exhibition will be made open to the public from 6th June 2011 to 30 June 2011. Do check it out if you have time! In the meantime, here are some candid shots from the shoot.

Above: Laughing with Joseph Teoh, The Gardens Mall Marketing Manager. He’s pretty hands on person too and art directed the entire shoot. Enjoyed working with him. :)

Above: The dress by Tom Abang Saufi which had Justin Lim’s fantastic illustrations screen printed onto her fabric.

Above: Make-up by Geraldine Loy In line with this project, Shiseido will also be selling limited edition make-up palettes inspired by the works exhibited. We all had red lips for the shoot.

Above: There were two shots. This (behind the scene) one was for Prestige magazine.

Above: This (behind the scene) one is for the coffee table book :)
The dresses created will be auctioned off and all proceeds from both (make-up & dress) sales will go to Red Cros Japan in aid of victims of the recent earth quake and tsunami. :)
Once again, I have to thank The Gardens Mall for inviting me to be a part of this great creative collaboration. I look forward to working with them again! ;)

Collaborate to grow….always!
Happy vibes to all.

Attended a party over the Labour w’end to celebrate the launching of Hanger’s (magazine) Spring/Summer 2011 Issue. I also helped scout out for fashion friends to write down their personal CurveID statements for Levi’s® Its not that easy to come up with a phrase/word that best describes what you believe on the spot, so I was happy everyone did so in good spirit. Official pictures here!

Malaysian singer YUNA on the cover. Love her denim turban.

The cover wall for guests to pose…

As demonstrated by Melissa and Nadia from PopMuseSic, they’re t-shirt range is featured in the issue. You can check their photos of the even here. (I stole some for this post #disclaimer)

PopMuseSic’s feature inside….:) My favourite stylist/fashion blogger Andrea is on the far left of this photo Twitter: @strrapped / blog: www.strrapped.blogspot.com

Andrea Joan Dennis @strrapped shows how she rolls with her accessories. Love her YSL ring. I want one now.

Flanked by PopMusicSic girls & TV presenter Henry Golding whose currently hosting one of our travel shows for 8TV called Without Boundaries.

At the start of the party, taken with the berry, sorry for the grain!

Me, getting guests to write their statements on the Levi’s® CurveID boards.

May the best Levi’s® CurveID statement win :)

A few style scouts were enlisted for the CurveID round. Above: Vincent Paul Yong (photorapher), also fellow Levi’s® collaborator www.vypy.tumblr.com

The other scouts included Malaysia’s forever “current” fashion peoples (left & middle): The fabulous Magie Abang Saufi @magieabangsaufi & Jiman @jimancasablanc with fashion lover Teha. Teha made me pose for fashion detail….LOL

Wearing my grandmother’s vintage Charles Jordans and a purse circa 1970s. I do love wearing history.

Best dressed winner! Make-up artist, hairstylist…MING WONG! Check out his salon BOMBSHELL I recommend the signature BOMBSHELL experience. I’ve done it many times. Tres fab. (photo from Tania)

I do like my pap-berry shot of Ming. Tee hee.
So that’s my take on Hanger’s Summer Sunset party, (plus I’m out of photos to steal from people). It was a refreshing day filled with smiley happy people! To my dear friends who I have stolen pics from…my apologies. I will remember to bring a proper camera next time.
Love. Nini
My good friend Shuenn Kee; owner/designer for Thirtyfour, (the design label I collaborate with) recently launched their own ‘metals’ collection. Its a small jewelry series made out of basic shapes! Love it! Congratulations Thirtyfour! You can visit them at Bangsar Village 2, Malaysia.

Love their stackable squares in rose gold and pink gold.

Serena wears 2 things here. The cube in rose gold and the marquis in gold!
Aaaah so yesterday I got to preview FENDI’s Spring Summer 2011 collection ‘FANTASY’ at Starhill, Kuala Lumpur. COLOR BLOCKING funness! I even got to dress in what I call their “parachute” skirt (below) which sent me flying over the moon because I really really wanted to wear it. Thank you FENDI. I love the shape of this whole outfit in fact. The skirt sits on the waistnd billowsout in a magic upside down tulip puff, paired with a re-engineered peasant top…tres jolie. I didn’t get the belt to go with the outfit as it was reserved for the runway but I am far from complaining! The top by the way is pretty special as it has buttons on the sides where you can control how much skin you want to show. It also comes in several silky colored variations. :) SWOON.

Above: With performance artist Arabyrd (middle) and Tengku Nadia aka DJ Nadia. Excuse my face, I thought we were doing “smultry” pose (even that would be a #FAIL , LOL). I just wanted to show you how the peasant top looks like with the sleeves open. Love Arabyrd’s look too with the head scraf and red lips. Die.

Above: With some majorly stylin peeps. Lady in the center (turquoise scarf) deserves a shout. Magie Abang Saufi aka The ultimate connector aka In my Forward list, you are too zamazing. Do you see that lovely green FENDI bag in the bottom corner of the photo? Its called a #2, designed by Silvia Fendi

I do love Arabyrd’s dress (from Chic Yamada).

Above: DJ NADIA rocks FENDI close-up. (Accessories are her own). Love the whole look. So effortless. Inspiring me to get some pearls Nadia!

Above: Love this photo of Nadia as she berries away. Note her message bangles. :)

Above: Emerald peasant dress (also available in long versions). I tried this on too for fun. Definitely would wear this out. Pretty bohemia.

Azura is one Malaysia’s more prominent models. She’s an amazing beautiful gentle woman. Lovely bones. (She’s naturally thin ok girls so please do not attempt this look)

Above: Now this is a dress version of the peasant top I wore. Sorry I could only get a side view. BUT, have to say, love the cut…also available in other materials. The BLACK version is DIE. Note also the lovely bag behind her. To check out their website& fall in love with the entire collection. www.fendi.com
All these photos were only one corner of the party. There were so many others in color blocks too. Note to self……take more photos as events.
Disclaimer: A fashion writer I am not. This is for fun :)
